Daniel J. Gerl is a former DUI prosecutor with over eight years of experience handling DUI and other criminal cases in Seattle, Federal Way, Tacoma and throughout Western Washington. Dan went to law school with the goal of becoming a prosecutor and began his legal career with the Skagit County Prosecutor's Office, where he handled several jury trials before graduating cum laude from Seattle University School of Law.
After passing the Bar, Dan continued working as a prosecutor for several years in Federal Way and Pierce County, handling hundreds of DUI cases. Over time he realized that, despite a high conviction rate, he was more interested in helping those faced with criminal charges and less interested in prosecuting them. Dan left the prosecutor's office in 2010, going into private practice handling both DUI defense and personal injury litigation.
In 2013, Dan formed The Law Office of Daniel J. Gerl, where he now focuses exclusively on DUI and criminal defense. Dan is rated "Excellent" by AVVO and is a member of the National College of DUI Defense, Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Washington State Bar Association and Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association. Dan is licensed to practice law throughout Washington in State and Federal Court.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys serving on the Board of Directors with Athletes For Kids, all sports, graphic design, and spending time with his two boys, eight and two.
