Maria has the distinction of not only practicing as a criminal law paralegal, but also having previously worked as a prosecuting attorney.
Prior to practicing law, Maria acted as a paralegal to both criminal and civil attorneys in the King County Prosecutor’s Office. Maria graduated from Emory University with a degree in Political Science and Education, then went on to teach middle and high school for several years before going to Law School, where she graduated from Mercer University School of Law.
Maria worked as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) prior to moving to Washington State. Maria prosecuted cases in King County for 3 years. She was the sole Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Aukeen Court for a year, handling all District Court Cases involving the Washington State Patrol and Sheriffs’ arrests and investigations for Auburn, Kent, and Enumclaw. Maria practiced before courts at the Regional Justice Center, the King County Court and King County Juvenile Court.
Maria also volunteered with the Free Legal Clinic program for residents in King County and the Free Legal Clinic for active service members.
Maria’s interests include reading, shooting, and large dogs; she lives with and loves a cane corso and has had 3 English mastiffs in the past.
