Last year, we took one of our most serious cases to trial in August. It was a 6 felony-count case for Benjamin, a man who didn’t even have a traffic ticket on his record. Benjamin, who was not a citizen, was accused by his wife of having seriously assaulted her in front of their two children. Our attorney and co-counsel Michael Kolker (former attorney “Of Counsel”) put their all into the case, exposing major problems the State had with witness credibility, lack of evidence, and shoddy police investigation. Because of their diligent efforts, our client was found not guilty on most of the charges and faced a sentence that was half as long as the prosecutor had “offered” in its plea agreement prior to trial.
